Bra Designs

Bra designs are diverse, with each style serving different functions and aesthetics. Push-up bras, balconette bras, plunge bras, bridal bras, plus size bras, vintage bras, leather bras, and belly dance bras are just a few examples.

Common Designs

  • Push-up
  • Balconette
  • Demi-cup: Also called half-cup or shelf bra, this style covers about half to three-quarters of the breast, with angled cups and a shallower underwire to enhance cleavage. It is ideal for low-cut necklines and is distinct from balconette and push-up bras. See demi_cup_bra for more.
  • Plunge
  • Bridal
  • Plus size
  • Vintage
  • Leather: Leather bras are unique for their tactile qualities, bold visual impact, and cultural symbolism. Historically used in corsetry for strength, they later became icons in punk, fetish, and queer fashion. Modern leather bras are available in a range of styles (push-up, harness, balconette, demi-cup) and materials (genuine, faux, vegan leather). They require special care and are often associated with empowerment, rebellion, and sexual agency. See leather bra, fetish fashion, and leather care for lingerie.
  • Belly dance
