Sensory Adaptation

Sensory adaptation is the process by which repeated or prolonged stimulation of a body part leads to changes in sensitivity. This can result in dulled sensation or, conversely, heightened response after a period of rest.

Examples

  • Repeated touch may cause numbness or loss of pleasure.
  • Pausing stimulation can make sensations more intense when resumed.

Writing Tips

  • Use sensory adaptation to create pacing and realism in erotic scenes.
  • Show how characters respond to changes in sensation over time.
