Periorbital puffiness, commonly known as "bags under the eyes," refers to swelling or edema in the tissues around the eyes, especially the lower eyelids.
Causes
- Fluid retention (e.g., after sleep, high salt intake)
- Aging (loss of skin elasticity and fat redistribution)
- Allergies or sinus congestion
- Genetics
- Lack of sleep
- Medical conditions (thyroid disease, kidney problems)
Treatment
- Cold compresses
- Reducing salt intake

- Cosmetic procedures (fillers, blepharoplasty) for persistent or severe cases
