Periorbital puffiness, commonly known as "bags under the eyes," refers to swelling or edema in the tissues around the eyes, especially the lower eyelids.

Causes

  • Fluid retention (e.g., after sleep, high salt intake)
  • Aging (loss of skin elasticity and fat redistribution)
  • Allergies or sinus congestion
  • Genetics
  • Lack of sleep
  • Medical conditions (thyroid disease, kidney problems)

Treatment
